Farewell Michael

It makes no difference weather you loved his music, or shunned his character, Michael Jackson and his shocking death will always be in your memory, and you will remember where you were when you learned of his death. Michael's music shaped a generation, and his performances whether live or on video were ground breaking and innovative. June 25th 2009 will be a date that echoes in time mirrored by August 16th 1977, when we lost another "king".

Michael Jackson was more than just an icon or a super star, no he was much more than that. He was someone who has entertained the world in every decade of his life. There are few people that would rival how much impact he had on the people of this planet, for good or bad, and that truly confirmed him as a living legend.

Although his legacy has been skewed and tainted, his appearance grown increasingly bizarre, and his life shroud in mystery, let us remember the talent, the love, the dedication, and of course the music. I hope he finally found peace.

Yeah, the similarities between MJ and Elvis are eerie. Yet, when I heard of his death, I wasn't so much shocked as maybe almost relieved for him. Sometimes God just knows when to call a troubled soul home. I don't even think of all the legal problems, my memory goes directly to where I was when I heard Billy Jean for the first time. :) And maybe while he portrayed an immortal persona, he was just one of us. Which is why we are so awestruck at how he could perform, entertain, perform charity work across an international stage while such personal demons chased him throughout his life. In the end, it's all about the music. It doesn't matter where you are, when an MJ song comes on, even white people think they can dance. It just makes you feel good, and if you actually listen to the lyrics, yes people, there is meaning behind his songs, you realize what a humanitarian he was. Think of him what you will, but what have you done for others lately? MJ finally has the peace in death he couldn't find in life. Too bad it took his death for local radio to play his songs again- hypocrites, all of them. Sort of strange that about 2 weeks ago, I was going thru some old vinyls, and among them, my MJ's, Pipes of Peace from Paul McCartney, Grease. It was great looking thru the covers again. Somehow, really took in the MJ's a little longer than the rest. Like saying goodbye before I knew it would be forever.
